Job and Scholarship Opportunities

Job Opportunities

  1. Postdoctoral Scholar – Nuclear Engineering–Penn State
    1. The position will include extensive work in areas of surface and materials characterization including x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, secondary ion mass spectrometry, ion beam analysis, transmission and scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, micro-tomography, and nanoindentation. In addition, work in thermo-mechanical testing of refractory-based alloys under a variety of temperature, irradiation, pressure and stress conditions. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be expected to support work in the area of advanced complex materials including porous meso and nanoscale structures synthesis and design, directed plasma nanosynthesis modification, and surface chemistry characterization. These Postdoctoral Research positions will also support advanced PMI diagnostics development, liquid-metal PMI, PMI computational modeling and post-mortem plasma-facing component testing.
  2. Tenure-Track Faculty in the Department of Nuclear Engineering–Penn State
    1. The Ken and Mary Alice Lindquist Department of Nuclear Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in nuclear engineering at all ranks. All areas of nuclear engineering are of interest, including nuclear materials, nuclear safety, probabilistic risk analysis, advanced reactors, nuclear fuel cycle analysis, radiochemistry, neutron science, radiation detection, policy in nuclear energy and security, nuclear security, safeguards and nonproliferation. While we are considering applicants in all of these areas, in this cycle the primary focus is on advanced reactor design, reactor physics and fuel management, nuclear security and non-proliferation, nuclear fusion, plasma science and nuclear medicine.
